Been procrastinating over this one for quite a while, but; alas, here I am driving the 2009 Nissan GT-R from Lake Tahoe to the Reno-Fernley Raceway on a pretty nice and traffic-free downhill run. Several of my colleagues have pledged an allegiance to put this car down whenever possible. Whereas some see a poor quality interior that bursts at its seams too easily, I see an interior so terrified of the G-forces it's subjected to - an interior trying to escape. I've seen Pininfarina-badged Prancing Horses whose upper dashboards were a lot more worse for the wear. Though it's no longer part of the Skyline lineage, the R35 is as close to Godzilla as you'll find in any car. Power, torque, all-wheel drive, neck-snapping acceleration, relatively low price, what more can you ask for? Just watch it float through the slalom course at TestFest 2008 and burst out of the faster corners with a hint of oversteer. The Nissan GT-R is a silver bullet through and through. So capable and yet so misunderstood. Not to me though. I get it. And, it's one of my favourite cars that I've been fortunate enough to get to drive.
